CAUGHT: 'Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker' Arrested in Philadelphia

Clark- Around 6:30 p.m. Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, aka Internet celeb "Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker," was arrested at the Greyhound Bus Terminal in Philadelphia, by members of the Philadelphia Police Department, announced Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

McGillvary has been charged with the homicide of Joseph Galfy, Jr., 73, which occurred in Clark on May 12.

Jersey Shore Relatives of Man Who Identified Boston Marathon Bomber Holding Benefit

Galloway Township- It was a sunny day in Boston. Jeffrey Bauman was in attendance at the Boston Marathon, watching his girlfriend race when an overdressed man who wasn’t watching the race bumped into him, gave him a head nod, and placed a package at his feet.

“He realized he had to move,” Courtney Bauman said. “He tried to get the attention of his girlfriend’s roommates.”

Freeholders Oppose Bill that Would Permit County Controlled Beaches

Ocean County- Ocean County's freeholders are standing in opposition to a state Senate bill that, if approved, would permit counties to take over the operation of beaches within its jurisdiction.

A resolution stating that Ocean County would be “actively impacted” by this legislation was unanimously passed at a Freeholders meeting May 1.

Toms River Father Charged in 4-Year-Old's Fatal Shooting Of 6-Year-Old

Toms River- A Toms River man has been charged with having multiple unsecured weapons accessible to his 4-year-old son when he fatally shot 6-year-old Brandon Holt, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain announced Monday night, May 13.

Anthony Senatore, 33, was arrested around 6:30 Monday night by detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, McClain said. Senatore was arrested at a residence in Bayville, according to McClain.

Sandra Brower, Lacey Superintendent, Will Not Resign

Wall- Sandra Brower will not resign from her current position as Superintendent of Lacey Township Schools, attorney Edward Bertucio said.

Brower, who allegedly hid a possible sex-abuse case during her time as Assistant Superintendent of Wall Schools, was indicted last Monday. She pleaded not guilty to the three charges brought against her — second-degree official misconduct, third-degree hindering apprehension and fourth-degree obstruction.

Police: Chaperone Sexually Assaulted 12-year-old Girl On Class Trip

Jackson- A Delaware man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl on a class trip to Great Adventure on April 27, Jackson police said.

Glen F. San-Andreas, 34, of Wilmington, Del., is charged with second degree sexual assault and second degree endangering the welfare of a child. He is jailed in lieu of $125,000 bail, pending extradition to New Jersey, the release says.

Demolition of Jet Star Roller Coaster Gets Underway

Seaside- Crews from Weeks Marine have started dismantling and demolishing the Jet Star roller coaster, which has sat in the ocean off Seaside Heights since Superstorm Sandy struck Oct. 29.

The demolition got underway prior to Prince Harry's visit to the borough Tuesday morning, and will continue for about 48 hours straight, said Toby Wolf, spokeswoman for Casino Pier, where the ride was formerly located.

Prince Harry Views Destruction, Walks The Boardwalk During Shore Visit

Jersey Shore- Britain's Prince Harry did what most people would do on a sunny, spring day in Seaside Heights—take in the ocean views, then play some boardwalk games.

Harry came to Seaside Heights with Gov. Chris Christie Tuesday morning after the two toured destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy in Mantoloking. The pair drove south on Route 35 and entered the boardwalk at Grant Avenue where crowds of people were waiting for their arrival.

Move to Halt Flood Insurance Rate Hikes Blocked By Pa. Senator

New Jersey- An amendment aimed at halting federal flood insurance rate hikes for five years has been blocked in the U.S. Senate.

The amendment, introduced by Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) was blocked from coming to a vote Tuesday by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.).
