Washington Engine Christmas Tree Sale

The annual Christmas Tree Sale hosted by Washington Engine Company starts Monday, Nov. 26. The sale will continue until they run out of trees. Stop by Washington Engine Company on Jackson Street, just behind the Matawan Police Department for your tree Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Operation Jersey Shore Santa

Operation Jersey Shore Santa was launched only days after Sandy rolled through New Jersey and their volunteers are working to collect toys and clothes for families who may not have the resources to celebrate this year. Donations can be dropped locally at D'Bella Salon in Matawan.

Toys For Tots

The Laundry Mill on Morristown Road is collecting toys for Toys For Tots. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at their location in the Cheesequake Commons (CVS) shopping center on the corner of Morristown Road and Cliffwood Avenue. 

Knights of Columbus Christmas Tree Drive

St. Joseph Council #3402 Knights of Columbus will be selling Christmas Trees to help raise funds for the residents of the Bayshore area who were effective by Hurricane Sandy.

Restore the Bayshore

Help support local families and businesses as they try to rebuild in the wake of Sandy. Follow them on Facebook for details on how to donate or purchase stickers, sweatshirts and other merchandise.

Monday, Dec. 3

10 a.m. - Operation Sleighbells Giving Tree Program 

The Hobby Shop's Annual Giving Tree Program is helping Operation Sleighbells, a part of Family and Children's Services of Monmouth County provide gifts for Monmouth County families in need this Holiday Season. Names and gift requests from 50 children are on tags hanging on the Giving Tree. For each gift purchased, The Hobby Shop will donate a gift in kind to Operation Sleighbells.

7 p.m. - MRHS Career Academy Open House

Matawan Regional High School will hold a Career Academy open house at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3. The open house was originally scheduled for Nov. 1, but had to be rescheduled due to Sandy. Students and faculty from each of the school's career academies will lead a presentation and provide applications to the program. Matawan has three academies, including Performing Arts, Business, and Bio Medical.

Tuesday, Dec. 4

7 p.m. - Aberdeen Township Council Meeting 

The Aberdeen Township Council will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and an agenda is available online Copies of the agenda will also be available at the meeting. Residents are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

8 a.m. - Free "Business After Sandy" Forum 

This forum is to share the programs and tools available from the State and County. There will be subject matter experts that will do short presentations and have a resource table for you to interact directly with them.

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Free Rabies Clinic

Aberdeen Township Health Department will conduct a free rabies clinic on December 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Aberdeen Township public works garage on Lenox Road off Cliffwood Avenue.  Dogs must be on a leash and cats should be in a carrie

7 p.m. - IEPs and 504 Plans: Understanding the Law on Special Education

Parents of Special People, Inc. hosts Hillary Freeman, Esq. of Freeman Law Offices for a presentation of IEPs & 504 Plans: Understanding the Law on Special education

7:30 p.m. - Aberdeen Township Planning Board Meeting

The Aberdeen Township Planning Board will be at 7:30 p.m. Agendas are available online. Copies will also be available at the meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.

Thursday, Dec. 6

7 p.m. - Matawan Borough Council Meeting

The Matawan Borough Council will meet at 7 p.m. Agendas are available online. Copies will also be available at the meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.

7 p.m. - Monmouth Tea Party Coalition

The Monmouth Tea Party Coalition will meet in Keyport at the Town & Country Inn Thursday night.
