This week will be a short one as people prepare for Thanksgiving.

Monday, Nov. 19

Superstorm Sandy Relief Dinner

The Red Oak Diner will host a $10 buffet on Monday at 5 p.m., with 100% of proceeds going toward relief efforts helping those effected by Sandy.

Daniel Morgan: Unsung Hero of the American Revolution

The The Matawan Historical Society will meet on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Burrowes Mansion, 94 Main St. in Matawan. Bill Chemerka will present a program titled "Daniel Morgan: Unsung Hero of the American Revolution." Light refreshments will be served after the program.

Aberdeen Township Leaf Pickup

Brush pick-up is scheduled for the following sections of Aberdeen: Cliffwood Beach, Heather Glen, Santa Fe, Strathmore sections A,D,F,N,O.

The Matawan Borough Council will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Matawan Municipal Community Center for their regular action meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.

Arcadian Chorale Open Audition

There will be an open rehearsal of the Arcadian Chorale at the First Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. as they prepare for their Fall 2012 program entitled "Voice of the Turtle Dove," featuring works by Bach, Josquin DesPrez, Salomone Rossi, and others.
