Ongoing Fundraisers

Washington Engine Christmas Tree Sale

The annual Christmas Tree Sale hosted by Washington Engine Company starts Monday, Nov. 26. The sale will continue until they run out of trees. Stop by Washington Engine Company on Jackson Street, just behind the Matawan Police Department for your tree Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Operation Jersey Shore Santa

Operation Jersey Shore Santa was launched only days after Sandy rolled through New Jersey and their volunteers are working to collect toys and clothes for families who may not have the resources to celebrate this year. Donations can be dropped locally at D'Bella Salon in Matawan.

Toys For Tots

The Laundry Mill on Morristown Road is collecting toys for Toys For Tots. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off at their location in the Cheesequake Commons (CVS) shopping center on the corner of Morristown Road and Cliffwood Avenue. 

Knights of Columbus Christmas Tree Drive

St. Joseph Council #3402 Knights of Columbus will be selling Christmas Trees to help raise funds for the residents of the Bayshore area who were effective by Hurricane Sandy.

Restore the Bayshore

Help support local families and businesses as they try to rebuild in the wake of Sandy. Follow them on Facebook for details on how to donate or purchase stickers, sweatshirts and other merchandise.

 

Monday, Nov. 26

Bone Marrow Donor Swab Drive

Retro Fitness and Let's Yo! is hosting a bone marrow donor drive all day on Monday. Stop by and get swabbed. A few minutes of your time could save someone's life.

Matawan Aberdeen Board of Education Meeting

The Board of Education will hold their regular action meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. at Ravine Drive School. The public is encouraged to attend.

Blood Drive

Donate blood through NJ Blood Services at Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church on Amboy Road between 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Donors must be 16 years with parental consent, weigh 110 lbs., and present photo or signed ID. Questions of eligibility should be directed to 1-800-933-2566. 

 

Tuesday, Nov. 27

Matawan Special Executive Session

The Matawan Borough Council will hold a special executive session on Tuesday Nov. 27 at the Matawan Municipal Community Center. The executive session will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the governing body will discuss personnel, contracts and litigation during the closed session. According to a public notice issued by the borough, action will not be taken during the closed session. Immediately following the executive session, the Matawan Borough Council will hold a special public meeting. The meeting is expected to begin at 6 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend this portion of the meeting. The council expects to take formal action during the public portion of the meeting.

Aberdeen Zoning Board

The Aberdeen Township Zoning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.

Toastmasters Meeting

Find your voice and discover your confidence with Old Bridge Toastmasters! The club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Sayre Woods Bible Church, 2290 Rte 9 South (south of Jake Brown Rd). Guests are always welcome and no advance registration is required.

Holiday Auction to Benefit NJ Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund

The fifth annual NJAWBO (New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners) Shore Region Holiday Auction will take place on Thursday. Come out and get your holiday shopping done early this year. The auctions proceeds will be donated to the NJ Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund set up by NJ First Lady Mary Pat Christie.
