Washington Engine Announces Honored Marchers for Annual Shortest St. Patrick's Parade

Washington Engine Company's Third Annual Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade might be a mere 0.2 mile march along Jackson Street, but the honor is great for the grand marshal and other designees. 

This year, Matawan resident Bogey Costello will be the grand marshal, former Ladies Auxiliary member Jill Chaney will be the grand colleen, Matawan firefighter Leroy Sickles will be the honorary Irish firefighter, Matawan P.O. Brian Murphy will be the honorary Irish police officer and Eric Weber of Pavers Plus who donates landscaping services to the Matawan Borough Fire Department will be the honorary Irishman. 

The Jersey City Fire Department Pipes and Drums, the Matawan Borough Council and numerous classic cars will also participate.

Make sure to grab your St. Patrick's Day attire and head to the parade early or you might miss it. The parade will begin promptly at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 15 at the intersection of Spring Street and Jackson Street and will continue just 0.2 miles to Church Street. 

Immediately following the parade, Washington Engine Company will further celebrate St. Patrick's Day with corned beef, cabbage and potatoes for $6 and will sell commemorative t-shirts for $15 ($18 for XXXL).

All of the money raised supports parade efforts for the following year.
