Temple Beth Ahm to Officially Install First Female Spiritual Leader

Temple Beth Ahm is pleased to welcome Rabbi Lisa S. Malik, Ph.D. on Dec. 11

The Board of Trustees of Temple Beth Ahm, Aberdeen, is pleased to announce that will be installed as spiritual leader of the congregation at a ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., followed by a dessert reception. Rabbi Paula Mack Drill of the Orangetown Jewish Center of Orangeburg, New York will preside at the installation. Mayor Fred Tagliarini of Aberdeen and Assemblywoman Amy Handlin are expected to attend.

Following her confirmation by the Board, Rabbi Malik assumed her duties as the first female spiritual leader at Temple Beth Ahm on Aug. 3.

Rabbi Malik earned bachelors degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School of Business, a doctorate in Jewish education from Stanford University, and was selected by her professors as the top student of her graduating class at the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she was ordained as a Conservative rabbi in 2004.

She and her husband Adi Wyner, a professor of statistics at the University of Pennsylvania, have three children, Ariel, Eva, and Rivkah.

The community is cordially invited to join the congregation for the installation ceremony.
