Santa Claus is Coming to Matawan

Santa will drive through the borough to waive to children and toss candy.

Santa Claus is making a list and checking it twice before he cruises through Matawan to say Merry Christmas to local children.

The Matawan First Aid Squad will tow Mr. Claus on his sleigh from Monday, Dec. 10 to Thursday, Dec. 13, according to elves at the North Pole. Mr. Claus plans to leave the Matawan First Aid Squad each evening promptly at 6 p.m.

Too bad Aberdeen doesn't do it !!!
KAM December 10, 2012 at 02:23 PM
I agree! Aberdeen used to do it years ago...I remember them doing it before our daughter was born. Too bad for the kids!

Once again Matawan will scare the hell out of its residents with non stop sirens and blasting fire truck horns, as if the whole town were on fire. Only to find they are perpetuating the myth, the LIE if you would that Christmas is somehow about Santa Claus being real.

Grow up!
debra December 10, 2012 at 06:25 PM
wow paul it must have sucked to be your kid!!!
Joseph December 10, 2012 at 07:47 PM
Sounds like Paul had a great childhood. Maybe he should take a ride on the Polar Express!! It would be nice for Aberdeen to do it would all the Taxes we pay!! Maybe they can't get his sled down the street with all the storm debris still on the streets.

The Matawan first aid and fire department volunteer their time and money to do this.
Heidi December 11, 2012 at 02:01 AM
What happened to Washington Ave. heard them on Ravine around 6 and they never came to Washington. Try explaining to your 3 year old Santa didn't come on ghe fire truck. Not nice
Michael O'Kane December 11, 2012 at 02:38 AM
Read the article....Washington Avenue is Wednesday.
Curtis Johnson December 11, 2012 at 11:38 AM
I agree with Paul! It's nothing but an annoyance!! Even as a kid I hated it!!
Heidi December 11, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Michael, there was a Washington Ave. on for Monday night as well. 7th street on list...you read the article
Michael O'Kane December 11, 2012 at 02:01 PM
You are correct. My apologies.
Ali December 11, 2012 at 11:50 PM
My son loved this! I feel bad for the scrooges here.
Paul M December 12, 2012 at 09:14 PM
Heidi wait till your kid finds out you were lying to him about Santa Claus. My parents told me early on that Santa Claus is an icon of Christmas but no more real than the Easter Bunny or the Great Pumpkin.
Paul M December 12, 2012 at 09:16 PM
Michael that's nice they volunteer but sirens and full blasting horns, really? Sounds like you need the "grow up" still living the myth of Santa. Also don't forget the large Jewish population you are annoying annually.

Does Santa give out presents? Can you bring donate ones to the firehouse for them to deliver?
Chelsea Naso (Editor) December 13, 2012 at 03:05 PM
Not during this specific event. The Matawan First Aid Squad was collecting (http://patch.com/A-zQjS) but that ended on Dec. 10. If you would like to donate new, unwrapped toys the Cliffwood VFW is collecting for Toys For Tots until Dec. 22: http://patch.com/N-f8sY

Santa missed a few streets on Map 3 of the Marc Woods section last night. Lots of very disappointed children who are upset with Santa. Kids waited outside for over an hour waiting for Santa to come. He was right down the street but never finished the street!! Terrible! I appreciate the First Aid squad for volunteering their time to do this BUT there are ALOT of unhappy children today! =(

Ok, now I am really confused. One place says, Little Street was on the 11th, yet another place says Little Street is tonight, the 13th. When is it? Either way... we have No Santa, but we do have a very upset and sad 5 yr old son who misses Santa vey much. Disheartening that your son thinks Santa doesn't love him because he didn't come see him. Somebody in Matawan better get their act together and get the story straight. My son may be the only kid on Little Street, but he counts on seeing Santa when he says he is gonna come. WHERE ARE YOU SANTA???
Debra Fisher December 14, 2012 at 02:33 AM
WHERE ARE YOU SANTA??? What happened to Little Street? One place on here says the 11th...yet another place on here says tonight..which is it? You have a 5 yr old here who thinks Santa hates him now. Thanks Santa.
Michael O'Kane December 14, 2012 at 04:14 AM
So sad the number of people that complain opposed to the number of people that show appreciation.
Chelsea Naso (Editor) December 14, 2012 at 06:43 PM
The Santa Runs for 2012 are now complete. There was some confusion with people viewing the 2011 schedule, which was posted last holiday season.
