Power Outages in Strathmore Homes

Multiple Strathmore homes without power after tree falls, pulls down lines

Multiple Strathmore homes are currently without power due to a tree that fell late this morning.

The tree was in a small ravine behind Bob and Mary Zeleny's property at 53 Brookview Lane in the Strathmore section of Aberdeen Township.

According to Mary Zeleny, the tree fell at about 11:15 a.m. as she was preparing to leave for an appointment. The tree pulled down the power lines that run behind the couple's home and crushed their shed.

Zeleny said that at the time the tree fell it was raining lightly outside.

The force of the tree against the power lines caused a pole to shatter four houses down, leaving wires laying across at least three properties.

Jersey Central Power and Lighting is currently on the scene working to restore power and repair damages.

Power is not expected to return until 2:30 a.m., according to Aberdeen Chief of Police John Powers.
