UPDATE: Power Restored in Aberdeen

Over 1,700 JCP&L customers lost electric in the township Monday afternoon.

Update, 5:20 p.m.: Power has now been restored to all Aberdeen residents.

---

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) reported 1,705 customers without power in Aberdeen as of 4:34 p.m. on Monday. That number dropping to 734 some 15 minutes later, according to the company's outage map.

Aberdeen was the only substantial pocket of outages Monday afternoon after a winter storm dropped one to three inches of snow in parts of Monmouth.

On the Matawan-Aberdeen Facebook page, three residents indicated they experienced power loss in the Cliffwood Beach section of the municipality.

It was not immediately clear whether or not the outage was weather-related. Matawan-Aberdeen Patch has reached out to JCP&L for comment on the cause of the power loss and will update this post when we have more information.
