Matawan First Aid & Rescue Squad Running Holiday Toy Drive for Families Struggling After Sandy

The first aid volunteers hope to provide children with holiday cheer after a difficult few weeks.

The Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad is collecting holiday gifts to donate to families struggling in the aftermath of Sandy.

According to first aid volunteer Steven Morley, he and fellow volunteer Joanna Kierce saw the destruction and wanted to do something to help.

"We realized that although Matawan Borough was hit hard with power outages, downed trees, and downed wires, everyone still had a place to live and still had their belongings," Morley said. "We decided this is our way of pitching in. Every child deserves a Christmas."
