Lowe's Providing Free Meals for Thanksgiving

Communities affected by recent storms to receive extra help

With the holiday season getting underway Lowe's has announced that they will be providing free meals to local residents affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The company announced that 35 of its stores in New York and New Jersey will be providing more than 22 thousand complete Thanksgiving dinners, including the Holmdel Route 35 South Lowe's store.

The dinners include a fresh roasted turkey or ham, mashed potatoes and gravy along with sweet corn and rolls. Table Talk Pies of Worcester, Mass. also donated more than 43,000 pies for the meals.

In addition to the 500 meals each store will distribute the company also said that all employees of the store will also get a free meal, "as a thank you for their dedication before, during and after the storm," a press release from the company said.

The total project is estimated to feed more than 136,000 people in the affected towns with more than $1 million worth of free food.

Meals will be distributed on a first come first serve basis starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

They need to require a photo ID and proof that the person lives in an area that was severely flooded. Too many will show up for the freebie that only lost their electricity. Some have already tried to get free food and clothes but were turned away because they didn't live in the affected areas.

Thats great! but how are people who lost their homes and their cars supposed to get there? How are the people in need being notified? If its not going to the right location its wasted, why not just make a donation to the local food bank,it will go allot further,we must start thinking more long term,as this mess is going to take a while to sort out.Be well and give THANKS.......

If someone is willing to come and get a free turkey they can have it what kind of a jack ass would ask for ID.

The best part? It has a roomy interior but is still small enough to be brought on a plane as a carry on.
