Irene Flings Keyport Boats Ashore in Cliffwood Beach

Strong winds broke the sail boats' anchors

Last night's strong winds, courtesy of Hurricane Irene, were particularly rough on the boats moored in the Keyport Harbor section of the Raritan Bay.

Two boats were blown across the harbor to Cliffwood Beach, where they washed up on a rocky shore.

Ed Gittines, who has owned one of the washed up boats for twenty-five years, said it appears the anchor snapped - a testiment to Irene's power.
