Get in the Holiday Spirit in the Bayshore Area This Weekend

There are a lot of holiday events, craft shows and fundraisers happening this weekend.

Operation Sleighbells Giving Tree Program at The Hobby Shop

When: Friday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m.

Where: The Hobby Shop at 1077 Route 34 in Aberdeen

What: The Hobby Shop's Annual Giving Tree Program is helping Operation Sleighbells provide gifts for Monmouth County families in need this holiday season. Names and gift requests from 50 children are on tags hanging on the Giving Tree. For each gift purchased, The Hobby Shop will donate a gift in kind to Operation Sleighbells.

How much: Participate determines donation amount.

 

Washington Engine Christmas Tree Sale

When: Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Washington Engine at 176 Jackson Street in Matawan, behind the police station

What: Washington Engine is selling Christmas trees to fundraise for the fire department. 

How Much: Trees cost $35

 

 

Knights of Columbus Christmas Tree Sale

When: Every day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Where: 54 State Route 35, Keyport, NJ 07735

What: The St. Joseph Council #3402 Knights of Columbus will be selling Christmas Trees to help raise funds for the residents of the Bayshore area who were effective by Hurricane Sandy. The trees were hand picked by members in Pennsylvania and cut just before Thanksgiving Day. 

How Much: Each tree costs $30 and all proceeds will go toward helping the Bayshore.

 

Score the Shore Charity Flag Football Tournament

When: Satuday, Dec. 1 at 8 a.m. 

Where: Marlboro High School at 95 N Main Street in Marlboro

What: East Coast Conditioning will hold an 18-year-old and over 7-on-7 charity flag football tournament. Every team will be guaranteed 3 games, then qualifying teams will move into a single elimination playoff. Teams entering this tournament will be asked to make a donation in order to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy and the rebuilding of our shore.

How Much: Teams pay a donation of $300 to play. Entrance is free, but bring cash to donate to charities dedicated to rebuilding the shore. 

 

Cookie Walk and White Elephant Sale

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Trinity Episcopal Church at 18 Ryers Lane in Matawan 

What: Craving some homemade cookies? Then you have come to the right place!  Trinity's bakers have created a wide range of scrumptious baked goods for you to purchase! Buy a box for $8.00 and then come and fill that box with whatever you want! Once you have satisfied your sweet tooth, come see what treasures our White Elephant sale has for you. Always suprising, entertaining, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

How Much: Entrance is free but make sure to bring cash for baked goods and the White Elephant sale. 

 

Listen to the Magical Tale of Santa Dust

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 12 p.m.

Where: The Hobby Shop at 1077 Route 34 in Aberdeen

What: The Hobby Shop is delighted to present a reading and autograph signing of The Magical Tale of Santa Dust with author Patricia Cardello. Spend the afternoon with Ms. Cardello as she reads her wonderful tale and discusses her story with everyone. She will be happy to autograph copies of her book too. The Magical Tale of Santa Dust  with a pouch of Santa Dust is available at The Hobby Shop.  

How Much: Free to attend, but registration is required.

 

Dramatic Reading of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol"

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 3:30 p.m.

Where: Holmdel Senior Center at 6 Crawfords Corner Road

What: "A Christmas Carol" is the perfect show for the month of December and the Holiday Season. Three skilled professional actors, featuring English actor James Dyne as Scrooge and the Narrator, read Dickens’ own words and perform all the characters in a sparkling one hour reading of this timeless tale of redemption and human kindness.

How Much: Free

 

Matawan's Christmas Tree Lighting

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6:15 p.m.

Where: Matawan Municipal Community Center at 201 Broad Street in Matawan

What: Santa will visit Matawan on Saturday, Dec. 1 to help the borough light the Christmas tree. Make sure to bring your camera to take pictures with Santa. Santa will arrive at 6:15 p.m. and the tree at the Matawan Municipal Community Center will be lit at 6:30.

How Much: Free. Don't forget your camera!

 

Santa Visits The Hobby Shop

When: Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. 

Where: The Hobby Shop at 1077 Route 34 in Aberdeen

What: Children can fill out wishlists and mail them to Santa in our special Santa's Mailbox. Parents are welcome to choose something from the list to purchase and it will be wrapped and tagged with the child's name on it so that Santa can give it to him/her during their visit with him.

How Much: Free
