Update: Flooding Closes Lanes on Rt. 35

Flooding closes Rt. 35 southbound between County Road and Cliffwood Avenue

The right lane of the southbound section of Route 35 between Cliffwood Avenue and County Road remains closed due to flooding as of 6:45 a.m., according to reports by 511NJ.org.

All other lanes are reported to be open.

Last night, Aug. 21, all southbound lanes and one northbound lane in the same section were closed.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory and a for Monmouth County tonight, Aug. 21. According to the report, most flood deaths occur in cars and drivers should avoid crossing areas where the water covers the roadway.

"Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road," the advisory said.
