Driver Severely Injured After Head-On Collision on Disbrow Road Thursday

The victim was airlifted to the hospital.

A driver suffered severe injuries Thursday during a head-on collision on Disbrow Road shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to Old Bridge Cpt. Art Carullo.

A passenger vehicle and a flat bed truck were traveling in opposite directions on the road, which connects Morristown Road and Route 34, when the passenger vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines and collided head-on with the truck, Carullo explained.

The female driver of the car suffered severe injuries and was medevaced to the hospital.

It is unknown at this time what caused the driver to cross into the other lane. 

The collision on Disbrow Road was one of three major accidents in the township Thursday, Carullo noted.

At 8:18 a.m., police were called to an accident on Route 9 North involving a school bus and a commuter bus. No children were on the school bus, but 35 people reported injuries after the accident and the highway was shut down while emergency personnel responded to the scene.

Just before 4 p.m., a third accident was reported to police. An SUV traveling on Route 9 South near Walmart rolled. Luckily, Carullo said, the injuries were minor.
