Cliffwood Beach is on Ballot for Statewide Favorite Beaches Poll

There's still time to vote in New Jersey's Top 10 survey

You can still cast your ballot in the statewide best beaches survey that is available online.

“We would love to see several Monmouth County beaches appear on the 2012 New Jersey Top Ten Beaches list,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas Arnone said. “Fans of Monmouth County and its beaches need to vote online by April 30 to have their vote count.”

Twenty-three Monmouth County beaches are on the ballot and eligible for voting in 2012, including Aberdeen's very own Cliffwood Beach. The other beaches are: Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Avon-by-the-Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Deal, Elberon, Highlands, Keansburg, Loch Arbour, Long Branch, Manasquan, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Ocean Grove, Port Monmouth, Sandy Hook, Sea Bright, Sea Girt, Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, Spring Lake and Union Beach.

“This is a fun way to get started with the summer season,” said Arnone, liaison to the county’s Department of Public Information and Tourism. “The days are warmer and many of us are thinking about the beach season. Our businesses are gearing up for visitors and residents are getting ready to entertain family and friends with a day at the New Jersey shore.”

In all, there are 48 shore communities represented in the survey, from the county’s Bayshore to Cape May. There are three categories in which voters will help determine this year’s Top 10 Beaches. You can only get to vote once in each category: family vacation, day trips and ecotourism.

The winner will be announced at a special summer kickoff on May 24 at Sandy Hook. There are no prizes — just plaques and bragging rights.

The competition is organized by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium annually and can be found at http://njtoptenbeaches.org. Results of the survey will be announced on May 24 at the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium’s annual State of the Shore Media Event on Thursday, May 24, just before the Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of the summer season.
