Brookdale Classes and Camps Still On, Despite Water Advisory

Brookdale Community College students should be advised that summer classes are still being held this week, despite the current boil water advisory in Middletown, where the main campus is located. The school's summer camps are also open.

According to Brookdale's website, the school is open but with some restrictions for the Lincroft campus (the advisory has been lifted for Long Branch and Neptune campuses). The Children's Learning Center is closed, as are the showers in the campus fitness center. The Jersey Blues Dining Room is not open to serving meals, but pre-packaged snacks will be available for purchase there, as well as at the Paddock Convenience Store and Larrison Hall.

Water will be available for distribution at the Jersey Blues Dining Room, the lobby between the Bankier Library and the Main Academic Complex, Larrison Hall, the Advanced Technology Center and the Student Health Office. For summer camps, water will be available at the concession area of the BREC (recreation center). Everyone is advised not to drink from campus water fountains or faucets.

The mandatory water restrictions are still in effect for residents of Monmouth County who are New Jersey American Water consumers (in Aberdeen, Holmdel, Highlands and Middletown). The company says it is currently working to make repairs at its water treatment plant after Friday's pipe collapse.
