The Bayshore region felt the full force of Hurricane Sandy’s wrath Monday into Tuesday. Now officials are preparing for the hard work ahead.
Schools in the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District will be closed Wednesday as the area begins cleanup efforts.
Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers said Monmouth County’s 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. curfew will be fully enforced. Residents should not be on the roads after dark.
The Matawan Police Department reminds residents that they should treat all downed power lines as if they were live. In addition, those without power should not be calling the police depart for updates on when power will be restored. The police do not have the ability to get power restored faster.
Matawan Police Department officials say they are fully staffed and will be strongly pursuing people who attempt to take advantage of residents who are suffering in the aftermath of the storm.
In Aberdeen and Keyport, Halloween trick or treating has been postponed until Saturday, Nov. 3.
