Are You Still Without Power?

Power restored to 4378 residents, with 4,010 still without power as of last night

In a statement sent out to residents via email and automated phone call last night, the Office of Emergency Management and the mayor's office announced that power had been restored to over 4,000 residents.

According to Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Thomas Falco, power was restored to 4,738 households, while 4,010 remain without power as of last night.

The exact numbers on the JCP&L website vary slightly, with reports on their outage map that 4,414 in Matawan and 234 in Aberdeen are still without power. However, Falco says this variation is due to the fact that numbers on the website are determined by region and zip code, causing some crossover in reports from surrounding areas.

According to the statement issued yesterday by the borough, JCP&L called in extra personnel from four surrounding states to help bring power back.

In a message posted on the JCP&L website at 7:25 a.m. today, Aug. 31, the company states that they expect the majority of customers to be restored by this weekend, with full restoration early next week.

The statement also encourages residents to call 1-888-544-4877 to report that the power is out in their home if they have not yet done so. They ask that no one report power outages more than once.
