Cross Road Closed Due to Downed Wires

A number of JCP&L customers report being without power in Matawan, Aberdeen and Old Bridge.

Update: As of 10:40 a.m., the number of outages dropped to 185 in Matawan, 20 in Aberdeen and zero in Old Bridge.

Approximately 900 households in Matawan, Aberdeen and Old Bridge are without power Wednesday morning due to downed wires at the intersection of Cross Road and Cliffwood Avenue in Aberdeen.

According to JCP&L's outage map, as of 8:00 a.m. 669 households in Matawan, 40 in Aberdeen, and 155 in Old Bridge have reported outages.

Aberdeen police officers and firefighters have closed Cross Road at the intersection of Cliffwood Avenue in Aberdeen, according to Matawan Lt. Ben Smith.

Matawan police have closed Cross Road at the intersection of Ravine Drive in Matawan where a traffic light is out, Smith said.

A JCP&L supervisor is on the scene and a crew is on the way to make repairs. Smith said the traffic light is expected to be restored in about an hour, however the road is expected to remain closed throughout the day.

Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route.

It is unclear at this time what caused the wires to come down.
