About 60 Matawan and Aberdeen Customers Remain in the Dark Sunday Night

A statement issued by JCP&L on Saturday indicates that all power should be restored by late Sunday evening.

Thirteen days after Sandy rolled through New Jersey, almost 60 Jersey Central Power & Light customers in Matawan and Aberdeen are still without power.

The JCP&L power outage map indicates that there are 51 customers in Aberdeen and 7 in Matawan without power as of 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11.

According to a press release from the utility company dated Saturday, Nov. 10, the majority of customers experiencing power outages, including those with new power outages from the nor'easter, would be repaired by Saturday evening.

However, according to the release, in areas where repairs need to be made to individual service wires power may not be restored until late Sunday night.

JCP&L encourages customers to report outages if their neighbors regain power but their individual home does not.

Outages can be reported by calling 1-888-544-4877.

The economic impact of Sandy, while severe at shore, did affect most of New Jersey. Our prayers go out those who have lost their homes, and/or have had their livelihoods impacted. Small businesses, the backbone of our economy, were the hardest hit. http://www.disasterassistance.gov/ is the FEMA site for both individuals and businesses. Unfortunately for us, Sunday the 11th is when our office gained power after Sandy. However, due to tech issues, we did not open until today, the 14th.
