Aberdeen Urges Residents to Stay Indoors

Also asks residents to avoid flooded areas

Aberdeen Township Police Chief John Powers issued the following release:

The storm surge in Raritan Bay from Hurricane Irene is expected to be 4’ to 7’. High tide at 8:00 AM Sunday will cause severe flooding in our area. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid flooded areas. Established shelters are at capacity. Shelters have been opened at Rumson-Fair Haven High School, Ridge Road, Rumson, and Neptune High School, Neptune Blvd. Residents requiring transportation to the shelter should come to the municipal building at 1 Aberdeen Square for transport to the shelter. Transportation to the shelters will cease when the storm worsens.
