Aberdeen Says JCP&L Estimates Full Restoration by Nov. 10

Township shares several bits of information through emergency notification service.

Aberdeen Township can expect full restoration by Saturday, Nov. 10, according to an emergency notification alert issued by Police Chief John Powers. The estimated date for full restoration was provided to the township by JCP&L.

Residents who need to charge their devices are encouraged to visit the ATT Charging Station which has been established at Cliffwood Firehouse on Angel Street in Cliffwood. It will be open until 8 p.m. tonight.

Residents who would like a place to warm up are encouraged to visit Strathmore Elementary School, which is operating as a warming station Tuesday, Nov. 6 and Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Strathmore School is located on Church Street.

The township will also hold an informational meeting for residents on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Aberdeen Township Municipal Building.

For the alert, there are many ways to get help. 1. The warming station at Strathmore elementary - available til 10 pm. 2. Southern Baptist Disaster Assistance, "Yard by Yard" is in the area. Operating out of New Monmouth Baptist Church, Middletown, NJ - Phone 732-671-5998 and ask for the Disaster people. 3. LDS has 400 volunteers ready to muck out, remove sheet rock and insulation and carpets and ready houses for professional work. Contact number is 347-709-0438 (NJ VOAD), resident leaves name, address and cell # and work needed. They will work central NJ from Cliffwood Beach/Keyport area down to Toms River, NJ. 4. Share a generator. If you get power share one. 5. Make a list of your blessings. My list grows on and on as we approach Thanksgiving. From the tree removers, the guy who donated a generator and heater, the electrician who fixed my meter the DPW workers and the businesses in the area pitching in to help. You don't have to be smacked upside the head too much before it registers... YOU ARE NOT ALONE. 6. Last night I saw some Cable guys waiting in line for dinner at Chili's and thanked them for all their work. And they gave me some generous attitude (and info). Carrots work wonders. 7. Sorry we are all so cold. In fact, the cold has killed my allergies. How's that for a disaster of no power? Blessings to you all.

Man this is absurd. Almost two weeks without power. Im sorry i just dont get it. I read all about the outpouring of support and the utility companies that have pitched in from 49 of the 50 states and it still takes 2 damn weeks? Im sure even after that there will be other towns still without power. That just means all that BS about being prepared was nonsense. The best part is not only did we have to suffer through the resotration, we will probably be picking up the bill thorugh rates increases so it may not even be worth using electricity when it comes back on. Thanks JCP&L for your shitty service.

My 80 year old parents who live in Aberdeen are still without electric. This is unacceptable! This is terrible for the elderly. JCP&L and Aberdeen township should be ASHAMED!!!

Matawan Ave just got the power

This shows how spoiled/ignorant people are...we were warned of what this storm would do. Shame on ppl for not making accommodations!!!! As for elderly parents and children they should have accommodations made for them too. These workers are out there day and night trying their best. Some people have bigger problems than power.

How is wanting power back in our homes spoiled or ignorant. My wife and I were fortunate someone could take our pets in while we were over in Korea and now fortunate to be staying at her parents because we live in a 100% electric apartment with no means to use a generator. So even if we were in the States when this happened the most 'prep' we could do is move out and now it's going on 2 weeks that we'd be able to move back in. It's not the workers that are the problem, it's the company. And the workers are at least being compensated very well for their help. The fact that we're still relying on wood polls is telling...

Pg: do you know if that includes Longbrook Apts?
debra November 07, 2012 at 12:34 PM
I wonder with the high winds if it will delay efforts to get our power back on

I still have no power, but will not complain. I can do with a little inconvenience and cold. Yes I had to throw out a freezer full of food, but I still have a house with no damage. I told my son that once power is returned to our home we are going to volunteer for others that are in need.

It would be nice if the Aberdeen Town Council or Mayor were out talking to the town during the storm and aftermath. They have not once visited the I-Section, my street Ingram has now lost power for 3 complete weeks between the two storms(Irene and Sandy). We had a meeting after Irene and the town was going to get JCP&L to work on our area, but we on the block saw little if anything done. Now we are without power for 10 days, in nearly freezing temperatures, and JCP&L tells us that our grid is attached to Union Beach. So restoration time is God knows when, and the snow is creeping in this afternoon. If this information about our grid is true, the town should step us and get JCP&L to work on our grid, but knowing the actions of Mayor I doubt little if anything will ever get done. It is a shame for the amount of taxes we pay nothing is done for us without a fight. Hopefully the voters of town will remember this come the next election day.

suggestion for JCP&L - it would have been really nice to hold off auto withdrawing payments from people WHO DONT EVEN HAVE POWER YET TO GET ONLINE TO CHECK THEIR ACCOUNTS - 9 days and counting in the I section of aberdeen

most people want answers from JCPL as to when there power is going to be restored. If they show these reports showing this many customers will restored this day and that day, then they should be able to tell you what day you will get restored. They know what grid your on and can tell how many people are without power, but cant tell you when your going to be restored.
