5 Ways to Celebrate Earth Day in Matawan and Aberdeen

Earth Day is on Sunday, April 22. Here are some ways to love our planet

Earth Day 2012 is Sunday, April 22. Whether you want to venture outdoors or stay inside, here are five different ways to celebrate Earth:

  1. Cliffwood Beach Park Clean up
    Show Cliffwood Beach Park a little TLC this weekend. Volunteers of all ages are needed for the spring beach clean up on Saturday, April 21, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, at Cliffwood Beach Park. Learn more here
  2. Earth Day Celebration
    Celebrate Earth Day at Cheesequake State Park on Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m. The event is free, plus park admission ($10). Learn more here.
  3. Documentary Film & Discussion: Rescuing The River
    From pristine to polluted, "Rescuing the River" traces industrial development along the Raritan River and current efforts to clean up one of New Jersey's most important resources. Chris Rasmussen, Associate Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, will lead a discussion after the film. Learn more here.
  4. Take a Hike
    Celebrate the Earth by appreciating all it has to offer. Take a hike on the Henry Hudson trail, or grab a bicycle and take a fast-paced tour.
  5. Spring Cleaning at Home
    Take this weekend to do a little spring cleaning. Recycle gently used clothes and househould items by donating them to MONARC in Matawan. If the weather is nice, make sure to spend some time tidying up your lawn and flowers.
