Are You Ready for Matawan Day & Food Festival 2012?

The celebration is this Saturday, Oct. 13 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This Saturday will mark the annual Matawan Day & Food Festival, with over 100 vendors and restaurants taking over Main Street for a day of fun, food and festivities.

Carnival games, free children's rides, live bands, DJ's and performances by local dance companies are just some of the highlights of the day.

La Riviera will again set up a beer and wine garden in front of their restaurant and Maloney's will be open for business, so make sure to stop by each for a brew and some lunch or dinner.

Attendees will also see some new faces at Matawan Day this year, including Papa Ganache, the vegan bakery that opened on Main Street in September.

Although a rain date is set for Sunday, Oct. 14, Saturday is forecast as a beautiful and crisp fall day with minimal clouds and a high of 61 degrees. Just make sure to bring a jacket as temperatures are expected to dip to 47 degrees Saturday night.

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., although Main Street between Route 34 and Broad Street will be closed as of noon and will remain closed until vendors remove their tables and the street is cleaned.

Last year, Matawan Day marked the 325th anniversary of the borough. Make sure to stop by to see how Matawan celebrates 326 years as a community.

Patch will also be at Matawan Day. If you see local editor Chelsea Naso, make sure to say hello and get some Patch swag from her.
