Sparks Fly After KFC Delivery Accident in Aberdeen

A truck accidentally pulled down overhead electrical wires during a delivery to Kentucky Fried Chicken on Route 34 in Aberdeen Wednesday morning.

Sparks flew and a transformer and pole caught fire, according to Aberdeen Fire District No. 1 Chief Gary Bellone.

The fire, which was reported about 11:45 a.m., caused power outages to surrounding businesses including the BP gas station and the Aberdeen Car Wash.

The fire was out and the scene was cleared by about 1:10, Bellone said.

No injuries were reported.

The Aberdeen Fire Department, Aberdeen Police Department and Jersey Central Power & Light all responded.
