Update: Time Changed For Bobby Flay to Throw Down with Drew's Bayshore Bistro

The public competition will put a local chef head-to-head with Food Network's Bobby Flay.

Update:

The culinary cook-off between Bobby Flay and Andrew Araneo, of Drew's Bayshore Bistro, will now take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, according to a spokeswoman from the Stronger Than The Storm campaign. The event was initially planned at 7 p.m. the same day.

Original story:

Andrew Araneo, head chef and owner of Drew's Bayshore Bistro in Keyport, will take on Bobby Flay, a famed Food Network chef and the owner of Bobby's Burger Palace, next week in Keyport.

The details of the competition were announced today on the Keyport Happenings Facebook page, run by Keyport entrepreneur and Hazlet resident Cliff Moore.

Roaring waters from the Raritan Bay washed away businesses and homes tucked along the Keyport Harbor during Hurricane Sandy. Since then, however, the tight-knit borough has been working tirelessly to reopen businesses as well as welcome new ones. According to Moore, 22 businesses have reopened and seven new businesses now call Keyport home.

Drew's Bayshore Bistro did not escape Sandy's wrath and reopened on March 26 a short distance away from its original spot on West Front Street. This year, Araneo was also recognized by his peers as being among the nation's most skilled in the kitchen, according to NJ Monthly Magazine.

The Food Network's "Throwdown with Bobby Flay" challenge is set to take place on the waterfront on Thursday, June 27 in Keyport with big screens to help everyone keep a close eye on the competition, according to Moore.

The competition is part of New Jersey's "Stronger Than The Storm" campaign, Moore said.

It is open to the public and people are encouraged to come cheer on their favorite chef.
