ONE PARAKEET OR TWO?

Many times I'm asked, "Should I get two parakeets so one won't get lonely." There are a couple of answers to this question. I try to define the reason for getting the bird in the first place, is it intended to be a pet companion or for future breeding. Most of the time the answer is Pet Companion and if that is the case than one bird is what they should purchase as young a bird as possible. Once the bird has bonded to it's new home and owners it will become a member of that new "flock". If you give the a feathered companion to start their life in a new environment they will bond to each other and not essentially to humans.   As always if anyone wishes to discuss this further they are welcome to stop by Bird Lover's Paradise Main Street Matawan Grand Opening November 16th. Until next week Happy Birding.
