Matawan-Aberdeen Board of Education to Set Upcoming School Year Goals

The meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Administration Building, 1 Crest Way, Aberdeen.

The Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District Board of Education will hold a special action meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Administration Building to its discuss goal setting for the 2013-2014 school year.

At a special August 1 Board of Education meeting, Ms. Kathy Winecoff of the New Jersey School Boards Association presented and reviewed the board’s annual self-evaluation form the 2012-2013 school year revealing weaknesses in board communication and collaboration but common goals of putting achievement high on their priorities.

“When you are sitting at that [board] table, you don’t have to like each other,” Winecoff said. “You are responsible for providing the best education that you possibly can for your kids and doing it in a fiscally responsible way.”

“You should never leave this room without being able to answer the question what is one good thing you have done for the children of this district today,” Winecoff added.

The board will take the evaluation results and their professional development goals into consideration when discussing their upcoming school year goals.
