Permanent Prescription Drug Drop Off Comes to Monmouth County Sheriff's Office

The first permanent drug drop box in Monmouth County will be located in the lobby of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office in Freehold.

If you are unable to make Operation Take Back in Aberdeen on Saturday, you can still safely and privately drop off your unwanted medications at a permanent drug drop box recently installed at the Monmouth County' Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff’s Office held a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the drop box and announce drug programs local organizations in the county are working on.

With numerous elected officials and professionals in the addiction field behind him, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden mentioned devastating statistics and explained how important it is for parents to educate their children on the dangers of prescription drug addiction.

“This is part of a state wide effort to take back New Jersey,” said Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden. “This effort will reduce the prescription drugs that are readily available to our children."

The drop box, which looks like a mailbox, is available for anyone in Monmouth County to use. The box is tamper locked and bolted down. Names on prescription bottles are not recorded. The box is located in the lobby of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office at 50 East Main Street.
