Local Editor Says Goodbye to Matawan & Aberdeen

Editor Chelsea Naso bids farewell on her last day with Patch.

It feels like just yesterday I was running around Matawan and Aberdeen decked out in rain gear with my newly minted Patch press pass dangling around my neck, snapping photos of Hurricane Irene's damage and speaking with business owners burdened with power outages.

Over two years have passed since I first started with Patch and we have (literally) weathered more than one storm together. But let's forget Sandy and Irene for just a minute -- I know I've had enough of those two chicks for a lifetime.

I was welcomed with open arms into the Matawan and Aberdeen communities and have the privilege to share stories about real, genuine people each and every day. My heart ached with the community as I reported on fatal car and train accidents and I rejoiced as I reported on the accomplishments of local athletes, police officers, firefighters and volunteers

Before I go off to work as a reporter in New York City, I just want to thank all of those who shared news tips, sent in photos, commented on the site, shared stories on social media and sent along information. Without community members like you, none of the stories that shaped my two years at Patch would have come to light.

It has been an honor to serve the community and I will cherish the friendships I have made here.

When you see me around town, make sure to say hello. And yes, I will still respond to happy exclamations of, "It's the Patch girl!"

Going forward, please send news tips, information and questions to Regional Editor Jacklyn Corley at jacklyn.corley@patch.com.
