Library Celebrates Halloween in June

A children's program at the Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library put their own twist on Christmas in July

Pumpkin and skeleton cut-outs decorated the children's section at the Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library, where children dressed in their costumes met to celebrate Halloween in June.

The Halloween in June children's program, designed for first through third graders, started off with story time. Everyone gathered around Linda Schroeder, one of the youth services librarians, who was dressed as a big spider.

The children also got to show off their costumes, make a Halloween snack and trick-or-treat around the library.

According to Library Director Kimberly Paone, Halloween in June was the library's play on Christmas in July.

"We did our Trick-or-Treat program on Halloween and it was really well received. The kids really liked it and the Youth Services Department looks for what is popular," Paone said.
