Get Out: Skim Bash, Outdoor Movie, Battlefield Tour

Find out where the fun is at in Monmouth County this weekend.

When & where: Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sea Bright Public Beach

Why you should go: Now in its eighth year, SkimBash 2011 has proven to be a premier event for pro and amateur skimboarders from across the country.

Spectators can enjoy music, food and giveaways as they enjoy top-notch skimpoarding.

What does it cost: Amateur entry fee is $35 plus a $15 Skim USA membership fee if you are not a 2011 member; semi-pro entry fee is $50 plus Skim USA membership; pro entry fee is $100 plus Skim USA membership; spectators must pay an $8 beach access fee.

When & where: Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dorbrook Recreation Area

Why you should go: Find that one-of-a-kind item you never knew you needed or sell your own goods and clothing.  The event features individual, business and non-profit vendors selling unique wares. (And when you’re done shopping and selling, take a stroll over to the .)

What does it cost: The event is free to enter. If you want to sell items, the vending fee is $20.

Summer Movie Series

When & where: Friday, June 24 at 9 p.m. at Liberty Park, West Park Avenue in Tinton Falls

Why you should go: What’s not to love about an outdoor movie in a park? The latest installment of the InVision EyeCare Free Summer Movie Series will feature The Wedding Singer. This particular movie showing is part of the 2011 Relay for Life of Tinton Falls, so come to laugh at the big screen and stay to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.

What does it cost: Free. Shore Flicks will be collecting non-perishable food items during all of the summer movies to benefit area food pantries.

When & where: Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Battlefield State Park in Manalapan

Why you should go: If you missed the last week, fear not. You can still get your fill of the 233rd anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Monmouth this weekend. The Friends of Monmouth Battlefield is sponsoring a walking tour of the battlefield, a children’s infantry drill, a cannon drill demonstration and more.

What does it cost: Free

When & where: Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Freehold Borough

Why you should go: The Historic House Tour features eight unique homes, including the McDonnell house. The Freehold Borough Arts Council will convert the McDonnell house into a gallery featuring art, live music and exhibits.

Visit historic homes in Freehold and enjoy the work of area artists and musicians.

What does it cost: $25 per person. Funds will benefit the Freehold Borough Historical Preservation Commission.
