Aberdeen Joins National Moment of Remembrance for Sept. 11

This year marks the 10th anniversary

Sept. 11 marks a tragic day for the United States, and brings sadness to the community as we remember our friends, family and neighbors that were lost that day.

The Aberdeen Township Council passed a resolution at their regular action meeting Tuesday night to formally join the National Movement of Remembrance of the tenth anniversary of Sept. 11, 2011.

Aberdeen Township requests that all members of the community, no matter where they are, pause at 1 p.m. on Sept. 11 in a moment of remembrance. This moment may include a moment of silence, ceasing work, saluting the flag or ringing a bell, the council said.

It is a movement put forward by the United States Senate that symbolizes the community's remembrance of all of the lives changed by that day, especially those of first response rescue workers, firemen, emergency medical personnel, police officers, and Pentagon Department of Defense staff members on Sept. 11.
