10 Things People Want to See Change in Matawan and Aberdeen

Revitalization and clean-up of Main Street in Matawan is high on the list.

On Tuesday we asked Matawan-Aberdeen Patch Facebook readers to comment on "It's a new year, and a chance for improvements. What changes do you want to see in town?"

Here is what they said:

  • New businesses on Main Street.
  • Less crime.
  • Pedestrian walk sign across the Matawan Borough and limit trucks crossing on Broad Street residential area.
  • New businesses, please.
  • Turn Main Street into a nice welcoming street. It looks like a ghost town.
  • I want them to pick my leaves up from October!
  • Main Street looks like crap, sidewalks are a mess with weeds and trash.
  • Main Street. I'd like to see Patch do an interview with the mayor on why Main Street is in such terrible shape and what plans does he have to fix it. If he has a plan, which I'm assuming he doesn't.
  • A revitalization of Main Street would be nice. Also more community based activity in the warmer weather. As for crimes, is it really that high? If so maybe developing an auxiliary police officer program. No firearms but power to arrest and an asp or baton for defense.
  • Less construction on Rt 35 in Cliffwood/Cliffwood Beach.
  • Fix the streets. Every road you travel on is full of potholes.
