LETTER: Skate Park in Matawan?

I would like to thank Matawan's Police Department Chief Jay Gallo and Matawan Borough's Council and the mayor for their support and guidance to make the Matawan skate park a reality.

We are very close. Usually the hardest battle is convincing the elected officials that there is a need to have a skate park in their town. That is not the case in Matawan. They realize the need to provide these facilities for our children.

Working with our elected officials and the borough administrator we have came up with a solution in the interim.

Successful skate park design and development can take several years and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

While in the developmental stage we will propose to our town Council at the next meeting to have temporary ramps at Clinton Street Park.

Please attend the borough council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening July 15 located at the Matawan Community Center, at 201 Broad Street.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
