Scheduled to launch July 1, 2013, We are FUSE (Feminism, Unity, Strength, and Equality) ignited their fuse a few weeks early on their Facebook Page and Twitter accounts this past Saturday.
Leslie Neidig, one of the founders of FUSE, said “These are the urgent issues that compelled us to launch early:
- Last Wednesday the GOP-led House passed legislation out of committee outlawing abortions later than 20 weeks into pregnancy. These laws would ban abortion
just at the critical time when women can get tests that tell them about the health of their pregnancy. Every pregnant woman faces her own unique
circumstances, challenges, and potential complications, and it is every woman's constitutional right to make her own medical decisions without interference from politicians who presume to know better. A vote is expected tomorrow. http://ow.ly/m47xL

- Last Thursday women in Wisconsin were arrested for SILENTLY protesting, with their mouths taped shut, SB 206 requiring an ultrasound minimum 24 hours prior to having an abortion. http://ow.ly/m468b
- The one year anniversary of Rep. Lisa Brown (MI-39) being kicked off the house floor for using the
medically accurate term vagina while defending women against the 20 week abortion ban. http://ow.ly/m48wA

- Recently, anti-choice Iowan Governor Terry Branstad announced he will sign legislation that will give him complete control over federal Medicaid funding for
Medicaid-eligible abortions. http://ow.ly/m464Q
- The recent introduction of one of the nation’s all-time worst abortion bills by Ohio Republicans. HB 200 includes some of the most restrictive obstructionism to date. The most dangerous to women’s health would eliminate “medical necessity” as a reason to perform an abortion without complying with the 48-hour notification requirement. OH Republicans have also attached abortion restrictions to the budget that would defund Planned Parenthood and shut down abortion clinics.” http://ow.ly/m48qt
