District officials have announced that Matawan-Aberdeen Regional schools will be closed on Friday, Jan. 3, as a winter storm threatens to impact the area beginning Thursday evening.
All Friday school activities are canceled, officials announced, though Saturday activities as of now are planned to carry on as scheduled.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. Thursday through 1 p.m. Friday. The area can expect between 4 and 6 inches of snow, beginning with rain or rain or snow this evening before changing to all snow later.
The district said to keep tabs on school information through its Facebook page.
