Time to Wake Up!

This was one of the most haunting moments of my time at the Fireside Grill and Cafe. This adorable little child was so focused on his small dessert, oblivious to the stark reality around him. It is easy still as adults to become myopic in our own pursuits. Be it the focus of our jobs or our more joyous tasks like holiday shopping.

But unlike the the young child, we as adults must shake off our tunnel vision in this harsh circumstance, as his parents were forced to look up and see that they had in fact, through no fault of their own, celebrated Thanksgiving in a tent, seated with strangers, served by strangers. They might well still need a meal tonight, or an extra blanket.

In Keansburg Saturday I met a 16 year old hero, he tied a rope around his chest and swam through 6 foot flood waters to save a neighbor. Not only no Tonight Show, still no way to cook at home! He was on line for a free hot lunch!

People, this is not a far off world, this is just miles away. They need your help.

And there are many of these victims who could also lose their homes to red tape so please take a minute and read my earlier posts and give the proposals voice, call our state representatives and tell them to Save the Homes of Sandy Victims.

The home you save might contain that sweet little child's bedroom.
