Where To Vote in Matawan on Tuesday

Despite the disruptions of Hurricane Sandy, the elections for national, state, municipal and school board offices are proceeding as normal.

Seven days after Hurricane Sandy made landfall in New Jersey, much of Matawan Borough is still without power.

As a result, certain polling locations in Matawan must be moved in order to accomodate the Nov. 6 election, according to Municipal Clerk Jean Montfort.

There will only be two polling locations open on Tuesday. One will be at the Matawan Municipal Community Center and the other will be at the Freneau Firehouse at 109 Freneau Avenue (Route 79).

Below is a list of which district will vote at which location:

District 1 - Matawan Municipal Community Center (Normally Washington Engine. Jackson Street)

District 2 - Matawan Municipal Community Center (Normally Hook & Ladder, Broad Street)

District 3 - Matawan Muncipal Community Center (Normal)

District 4 - Freneau Fire House (Normal)

District 5 - Matawan Municipal Community Center (Normally ME Haley, Cross Roads)

District 6 - Matawan Municipal Community Center (Normal)

District 7 - Matawan Municipal Community Center (Normal)

If you do not know your voting district, you can find out online by entering your address.

Walk-in voting is permitted today until 4:30 p.m. at the Monmouth County Clerk of Elections Office, located at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold.

Voting information for Aberdeen is available here.

Election booths are more important than people's homes to politicians. Just make your voice clear DO NOT vote for the incumbents this year. Let's give someone else a try.

What does the election have to do with power fixed by JCP&L? Another whining joker who has no idea what is going on outside of what he can see on his street let alone outside of Matawan.

Hi May and James (James Shea, Democratic Leader in Matawan who lives on Monroe street). Do you have a home? Is your family safe? Should the people of Sea Bright vote out their incumbents because they didnt stop the hurricane? Drove around Matawan and Monmouth County and Ocean County. Every Street has a tree that took down power lines. The Mayor and Council cannot force the power company to fix them. You want to complain direct it at the right people - those who raise your electric rates and dont provide you with crappy service. BTW did you see the Mayor our Friday night working with the Police to hook up generators to the traffic lights on Route 34 so people could get around safely - of course not because that wont help your political agenda. Grow up. People are dead and some have lost everything. Lets get some perspective.
