Week Ahead: Storage Auction, Pinewood Derby
A look at meetings and events in the Matawan and Aberdeen area this week.
Monday, Feb. 25
Treasure Island Storage will hold a public auction to statisfy its lien against several unit renters. The sale will take place at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25.
The Matawan Aberdeen Board of Education will hold their regular action meeting at 7 p.m. at Strathmore Elementary School. Copies of the agenda will be available on the district website as well as at the meeting.
Spotlight Players will hold auditions for Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling, looking for women aged 21 & up. All roles are open. Please come prepared to read selections from the script, which will be provided.
Tuesday, Feb. 26
The Matawan/Aberdeen Cub Scout Pack 66 will be hosting the 33rd annual Pinewood Derby 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Matawan Community Center. Approximately 140 Cub Scouts will be participating. Guest judges include Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini, Matawan Mayor Paul Buccellato and Boy Scouts from the Aberdeen/ Matawan Boy Scout Troop 66.
Temple Beth Ahm Sisterhood and the Matawan Aberdeen Chapter of Hadassah are proud to present a concert in tribute to Debbie Friedman at Temple Beth Ahm, in Aberdeen, on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The community is invited to attend.
Wednesday, Feb. 27
The Matawan Borough Unified Planning/Zoning Board will hold a special action meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to discuss an application from Quik Check on Main Street in Matawan. The meeting is open to the public and there will be an opportunity for public comment. Copies of the agenda are available on the borough website and will be available at the meeting.
Toastmasters is an international organization with hundreds of clubs worldwide. It is dedicated to helping members become confident and effective public speakers and leaders within the workplace and community.
Thursday, Feb. 28
The Bayshore Deanery of the Diocese of Trenton will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving to honor His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church. The Homilist will be Very Rev. Douglas A. Freer Vicar for Catholic Education, Diocese of Trenton.
