Monday, Oct. 8
Classes teach pre-schoolers ages 3 and up about body awareness and relaxation through posing and games. Class starts at 10 a.m. and costs $10.
The Matawan Aberdeen Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at the administration building at One Crest Way.
Tuesday, Oct. 9
The NJ Turnpike surplus sale of roadway equipment and miscellaneous parts will take place Oct. 9-11 in Holmdel.
Toastmasters is an international, non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. The annual Open House, held at 6:30 p.m., provides an opportunity for guests and prospective members to meet with current members and experience a Toastmasters meeting.
Wednesday, Oct. 10
10x10 is a new global campaign that Trinity Hall is proud to support. 10x10 is a feature film, Girl Rising, and a social action campaign, created and launched by an award-winning team of former ABC News journalists in association with The Documentary Group and Paul Allen's Vulcan Productions. On the first International Day of the Girl, hundreds of people around the world are holding 10x10 events to show that investing in girls is not just right, it's smart.
Friday, Oct. 12
The Friday Nite Specials cast performs at the Strathmore Art Cinema at 1055 Rt. 34 in Aberdeen. Shows are every "Friday Nite" at midnight and tickets cost $6.50. Join us for a unique experience blending movie, live cast, and audience participation.
Saturday, Oct. 13
The Matawan Borough Fire Department will celebrate Fire Prevention Week with a morning of fun on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the fire department in the parking lot of Walgreens on Route 34 and Broad Street to see the borough's fire trucks, meet the firefighters, and hang out with Sparky the Fire Dog.
The Cheesequake Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday, Oct. 13 at their fire house located at 113 Route 34 in Old Bridge. During the open house, there will be live fire extinguishes, live vehicle extrication demos, equipment show and tell, antique fire engines, a barbeque and even an appearance from Smokey the Bear.
Celebrate the annual Matawan Day and Food Festival on Main Street in Matawan starting at 1 p.m. Enjoy food, drinks, local business and performances by local dance teams. Main Street will be closed to traffic during the festival.
