VINTAGE VIDEO: 1969 Matawan Fire Department Parade
Take a peek back in time to when the Matawan Borough Fire Department celebrated their 100th anniversary
This silent home video offers a glimpse into life in Matawan in 1969, when the Matawan Borough Fire Department celebrated their 100th anniversary.
Children run up and down the street as members of the Marching Huskies from Matawan Regional High School pass by. Old fire trucks, classic cars, and a three-wheeled bicycle can be seen cruising by the intersection of Ravine Drive and Main Street. Watch closely to see Miss New Jersey Cheryl Carter, who was from Matawan, waving to the crowd as she rides through the parade in a covertible.

Wow! Love this 1969 video. That's a real parade. Majorettes, real floats, a beauty queen, vintage vehicles. And in the backdrop, Matawan's main street as it is still recognizable today. Great find!
