The Ultimate Showdown: Hulk vs. Hurricane Sandy

Watch out Hurricane Sandy! You don't want to make this local businessman angry.

The Incredible Hulk will flex his muscles as Hurricane Sandy comes barreling through his beloved home in Matawan.

The 300-pound science-experiment-gone-wrong will snarl through the heavy wind and rain out front of Fitness City on High Street near the Aberdeen-Matawan Train Station.

Fitness City owner Gary Kamil hopes that the 60 to 80 mph winds are no match for the certified Universal Studios statue he purchased in 2011 from a movie theater in California. There were only 140 created to help promote the 2008 film.

"It's kind of like he's a human, because I'm worrying about him," Kamil said, recalling all of the times he has seen passers-by stop to snap a photo of the approximately nine foot tall and six foot wide replica of the Hulk.

The Hulk is tightly bolted and chained down, as well as coated in a special paint designed to help him survive all sorts of weather. However, Kamil added a heavy duty strap to help secure the statue to the building.

As a body builder who has competed for 37 years on the local, national, and international stage, Kamil felt the Hulk fit right in at Fitness City, which has been in business for over thirty years.

"We never had a mascot, so it was perfect. He's like an alter-ego of mine," he said.
