Software Company Moves to Matawan, Brings Job Opportunities

The software-as-a-service company outgrew its Hazlet location, and plans to continue growing in Matawan

Twelve years ago a small software-as-a-service provider spun off of Comrise Technology in Hazlet with one goal: to make recruiting candidates and onboarding new employees extremely efficient for growing companies.

Colin Day, the founder and CEO of iCIMS, was just 23 when he developed the business plan for an applicant tracking system that can be used by employers to connect to job seekers, recruit candidates and onboard new employees. Since then, iCIMS has grown to over 200 employees serving over 1,200 clients with international offices in Beijing and the United Kingdom.

During the last quarter alone, iCIMS hired about 40 new employees and it was time to face facts. They no longer fit in the Hazlet office.

On March 25, iCIMS officially moved their corporate headquarters to 120 Parkway, an office building at 90 Matawan Road in Matawan.

Software-as-a-service means that instead of purchasing a disk or a piece of hardware from a company, the client enters a lease and accesses the software over the internet. This allows companies like iCIMS to regularly improve and update the software while growing along with their clients.

It is a competive field, Day noted, but iCIMS was able to make a mark in the industry by paying close attention to the needs of their clients.

"I think we're providing the best customer experience. We have competitors that may be focused more on being an innovator and other competitors that focus on being the lowest cost provider. We're focused on providing the best customer experience, and that's wrapped up in great customer service and a really easy-to-use piece of software," Day said. "We've built a really strong reputation as a company that really takes care of you, not just the software."

Their sleek new office in Matawan has a modern appeal, with splashes of red throughout the rows of cubicles. There is, however, one thing obviously missing from many of those cubicle: employees.

According to Day, iCIMS plans to hire another 25 to 35 people this year and then continue to grow at a rate of about 20% each year. The largest area of growth is happening in their tech department and it has been a challenge to fill all of the openings.

"I think there are so many people that have the skill set here that are commuting in the city and we have to get the word out. You don't have to do that commute," Day said. "There's a really amazing software-as-a-service company in Matawan looking to hire."

Those interested in applying to iCIMS can check out their available positions online or follow them on Twitter @iCIMS, where their talent acquisition team regularly posts jobs like this one, which was tweeted this morning.

Wow. Anybody who can start a successful business in NJ these days must be doubly smart. NJ ranks 49th out of 50 as the worst business friendly state. The next Steve Jobs? I hope so. Best of Luck. When does it go public?

Our clients use the iCIMS software and it has been a great tool for them and for us as a staffing vendor of those clients.
