I am so thankful I got to spend last summer here. I am not sure it will Ebert be the same. Even worse next summer, 2013 is the centennial celebration of the board walk here at Seaside.

No, it will never be the same. I grew up in Long Branch and all of the other towns along the east to NY was my play ground. My HEART breaks.

The large object near the fires is the Thunderbird Condos. Also in the picture is Our Lady of Peace Church.

Does anyone know where I can find info on the church? I used to be a parishioner there, and would like to help with clean up. I tried calling the main number, but there is no answer. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

My heart is breaking as I am stuck in Chicago and my husband and 2 kids are sitting in the dark and no heat. I am trying to get home as fast as I can! My whole life has been on the Jersey shore and I grew up at the beach clubs in Sea Bright. You are all in my prayers-stay safe and listen to what the officals are telling everyone and let them get the power on soon! and the airports working too.

Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire-proof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) people walking above
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be faling in love
Under the board-walk (board-walk!)

We shall rebuild..life goes on!

I spent many wonderful childhood summers in Ocean City N.J. Some of my fondest memories are of riding on the Merry-go-round on the boardwalk. I stay at 32nd and Central Avenue. I remember that going to the boardwalk, I would pass by Grace Kelly's family home. Our rental was almost on the beach and I wonder if it is still standing. How I loved that town. It was a family town and all had a great time. I even remember a certain lifeguard named Bucky who was there every summer. His dog and Mom would bring his lunch down to him. I am a North Carolinain, but I shall never forget my Jersery roots. quilterkay

My family spent many summers there and loved the boardwalk and the old man in the chefs hat that used to sit there.
