Remember that for every $100 spent (be it a coffe shop or hardware store), local business put $68 back into the local economy vs. $43 with chains/non-local business.

Starbucks in Matawan is the best coffee shop in town. The service and coffee is by far the best around.

Espresso Joe's in Keyport... No brainer! Any one that says Dunkin Donuts has the best coffee must not be a real coffee drinker.

I'm a Starbucks in Matawan fan. They offer soy milk and their soy lattes are perfect for me. Must say the new black mocha coffee (iced) at Duncan Donuts is pretty good too.

Mcdonalds is not a coffee shop. For that matter, the only coffee shops on this list are Dunkin, Starbucks, and Espresso Joes and only one of those places is independently-owned and locally oriented. And the coffee is fresh roasted in Jersey, not just shipped from some mystery corporate facility.

Espresso Joe's of course! Great coffee, perfect spot (across from the waterfront) and they sponsor local artists :) Glad it's so close!

Gabrielle, If you take out Espresso Joe's off the list ...you wouldn't have a competition for best coffee shops. Other than EJ and SB, how do you even consider the rest a COFFEE shop? Isn't Dunkin Donuts a DONUT shop that sells Coffee Flavor Milk?
