Over 18,000 Power Outages Reported in Matawan-Aberdeen Area

Thousands of Matawan, Aberdeen, Keyport and Old Bridge households are reporting power outages.

Over 18,000 households in the Matawan-Aberdeen area are without power as the worst part of Hurricane Sandy begins to move through the region.

According to the Jersey Central Power and Light website, there are approximately 3,065 outages in Aberdeen, 3,354 in Matawan, about 210 in Keyport and 11,991 in Old Bridge.

JCP&L is anticipating widespread power outages in New Jersey as Hurricane Sandy passes through. Outages may last from seven to ten days as a result of the expected damage.

I was finally able to talk to a rep at JCPL.. She said they are gonna try and restore the power back by Nov 7th, before the new nor’easter storm hits... If its not done by Nov 7th, then she said we have to expect the power back by Nov 10th..and thats going to be two full weeks without power!..Lets hope for the best..

@Meera - Thanks for the update, but you know that if there's wind, the power will be out again. I thinks its funny that they give these random estimates in Matawan for Nov 8th, 9th & 10th. Who are the 2,000 customers in Matawan that have electricity? we don't have power. Are they doing creative accounting & did they fail their first grade math classes:
