The Matawan First Aid and Rescue Squad is collecting holiday gifts to donate to families struggling in the aftermath of Sandy.
According to first aid volunteer Steven Morley, he and fellow volunteer Joanna Kierce saw the destruction and wanted to do something to help.
"We realized that although Matawan Borough was hit hard with power outages, downed trees, and downed wires, everyone still had a place to live and still had their belongings," Morley said. "We decided this is our way of pitching in. Every child deserves a Christmas."
The squad will collect new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages until Dec. 10 at three different locations:
- Matawan First Aid & Rescue Squad at 28 Little Street, Matawan NJ
- 9 Jasmine Road, Matawan NJ
- Revenue Guard at 50 Route 9 North, Building B, Morganville NJ
Volunteers from the first aid squad will be distributing the toys the weekend before Christmas to families they have identified as being in need.
If you know of a family in need, Morley can be contacted at StevenJames516@aol.com.
