Matawan Aberdeen Board of Education Selects President, Vice President

In addition to four new members, the board of education now has a new president and vice president.

The Matawan Aberdeen Board of Education elected a new president and vice president for 2013 at their Jan. 3 reorganization meeting.

After swearing in new members Tara Martinez, James Macomber, Joelle Nappi and Kathleen Gentile, the board nominated and voted for both leadership positions.

Elected as board president was Jeff Delaney, an Aberdeen resident who is currently in his first term as a board member. Delaney is looking forward to continuing his service to the local educational community.

"I've been in education all my life, never from this perspective. I think that I can bring valuable things to the process," he said after the meeting.

Matawan resident Anissa Esposito, also in her first term, was elected as the vice president of the board.

"I'm very honored and it's going to be an honor to work with Dr. Delaney. Mr. Kenny did a very nice job for a long time and it's big shoes to step into," she said after the meetig.

The next board of education meeting is on Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the administrative building on Crest Way in Aberdeen.
